Three Dimensional Painting
The use of cement as an art form, free from functionality is the basis of the work by Karen Birnholz. Focusing on the principles of painting- color, form, and movement, she uses cement as a medium with the same freedom as oil on canvas. Due to the unique characteristics of cement she is able to work immediately in 3 dimension. The result is form and color free in space with all the strength and presence that cement can achieve.
