Red Pig Flower (Born in Seoul 1986, grew up in Tokyo, London, Berlin), a versatile artist known for her DJ and multimedia work, extends her talents to painting, creating surreal dreamscapes that explore deep emotional and psychological themes. Her series "Dirty Filthy Wonderland" and "Heads on the Cloud" blend innocence with corruption and reality with fantasy, using vivid colors and whimsical elements to challenge perceptions. These paintings, filled with provocative imagery and hauntingly expressive figures, invite viewers into a world where the boundaries between the real and the imaginary blur. Red Pig Flower’s art is a reflection of her diverse cultural experiences and her ability to convey complex human emotions through visually striking narratives.
Red Pig Flower's relentless pursuit of artistic discovery has led her to study mass media at CAU Seoul, time-based art at CSM London, and most recently, LUCA Brussels, where she was honored as one of the Young Artists 2022. She won the Best Video Art prize at the Venezia Misteriosa contest in 2015 and received a Master Mind Scholarship from KU Leuven in 2021.
Her works have been exhibited in remarkable venues such as the NottinghamBiennale, NCCA (National Centre for Contemporary Arts) in Moscow, Goldsmiths University in London and the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, to name a few. It also was prominently displayed on America’s Denver's main clock tower, showcasing her significant impact in the contemporary art scene.
